Carol Chiam-Lim is a familiar face as she was with MediaCorp for several years as current affairs newscaster, editor, host and producer for various TV current affairs programmes. Carol is now the director of JES Media, an organization seeking to promote family values through the use of performing arts and media.
Carl Lim has been a correspondent with Lianhe Zaobao (SPH) since 1990. He anchors the parenting column and writes on diverse family life issues, including marriage. Carl has also hosted several radio talk shows and is the voice behind many TV commercials.Carl’s and Carol’s passion for family has led them to become regular speakers on marriage and parenting at various public events. They have been married for 18 years and have two boys, aged 15 and 10.
詹玉珍是知名的新传媒前任新闻主播/记者/编辑，也是许多时事节目的主持兼编导。她也曾任 《早安您好》的节目主持和副监制。玉珍现任佳禧传媒的董事，该机构通过传媒和表演艺术传达家庭价值观。林弘谕现任《联合早报》执行级记者，1990年工作至今。他是《联合早报/家庭》版 “亲子营”的专栏作者，对亲子、家庭和婚姻的课题发表过无数篇文章。他也常受邀上电台与电视台分享亲子和家庭课题的看法。
林弘谕和詹玉珍夫妇对维持家庭和婚姻和谐颇有心得，因此也曾举办过无数亲子及婚姻的讲座。他们也常受邀到学校及社区俱乐部讲演。两人结婚18年，并育有15岁及10岁的儿子。

小记者寒假赴新加坡采访实践 2008
应新加坡AT10TION International新闻学院等的联合邀请，少年之家小记者们再次收拾行装，怀着中国少年儿童的友好，带着新年的祝福，出访狮城。小记者享用了极其丰富的新闻“大餐”，主要有：“电视新闻学与主播技巧（电视新闻播报演练）”、“电视新闻采访拍摄（电视采访演练）”、“平面媒体采访技巧（现场编写采访稿演练）”等等。在与《联合早报》的资深记者和电视台知名主播的零距离接触中，小记者们发现自己对新闻时事的警觉性、社交与沟通能力有了较大的增强。最令人兴奋的是：每位顺利“吃”完“大餐”的小记者，还获得AT10TION International学院小记者证书。访新期间，小记者们还游览了滨海艺术中心、莱佛士登岸遗址、林谋盛民英雄纪念碑、伊丽莎白径、兴都庙等新加坡地标性建筑。在新加坡植物园、野生动物园和被誉为欢乐宝石的迷人小岛圣淘沙也留下了大家的欢声笑语。
我们可以想象，身穿记者服、胸佩记者证、拿着采访夹，在社会各处进行实践、采访，这些是孩子们的梦想。而能够走出国门进行采访体验活动，这对于孩子们来说更是弥足珍贵的。一次次出访之旅，就是少年儿童的成长之旅。小主人报新闻学校真不愧是全中国小主人成长成才的摇篮。

不管你如何忙碌，都应在星期天抽个空，带孩子到爷爷奶奶家探望老人。孩子以后也会记得你在路上的吩咐，爱父母是天经地义的事。
的确，很多时候，你以为孩子不晓得你在干什么。其实，他们是看在眼里，嘴上不说而已。
孩子从你的一举一动中，构建一个成长的模型。
当你小心翼翼地把孩子第一次从学校学做的饼干送入口中时，你以为他没看到。你嘴角的微笑，让他决定周末不出去打球，要呆在厨房烘饼干。
当你在公路上停下车，把一只受伤的猫抱到路旁。他会更加爱护家里的宠物，更加理解生命的意义。
当你的妻子突然说想吃榴莲，虽然已近午夜，你仍驾车到芽笼买两个回来。孩子知道爱的表达有很多不同的形式。
当扫地的阿伯推着沉重的垃圾车，尝试一手吃力地推开那扇通往垃圾槽的门时，你马上替他解围。孩子认为这是老师所教的“助人为快乐之本”最佳的诠释。
当另一半要跟你争吵时，你不发一言，走出门透口气。孩子感知息事宁人、有容乃大是最好的相处方式。
当孩子生病时，你为他默默祷告。他晓得除了人，还有神可以依靠，世界多美好。
当你对丈夫（妻子）动怒大声吼叫时，别因孩子对你的大喊大叫感到大惊小怪。
当你吩咐女佣递茶倒水时，不要责备孩子在女佣不在时，把你当女佣使唤。
当你在另一半的面前数落对方的不是时，孩子会认为批评别人是一种光明正大的行为，不用留情面，无需下台阶。
原本说好不让孩子去郊游的，后来他发现你特地为他准备了有吃有用的郊游包，他学会了退一步海阔天空。
当他发现你从小到大，每年都为他拍张照留作纪念，让他长大后记忆不留白，他才体悟爱的细腻。
当你在熟食中心掏出两元钱向兜售纸巾的残疾人购买东西时，孩子知道施比受更为有福。
当孩子在睡梦中隐约听到你在浴室清洗他在学校弄脏的校服的声音时，他告诉自己下次玩乐时要更加小心别弄脏衣服，不要剥夺你的睡眠时间。
当你说家用已不够了，但仍坚持借钱给隔壁的老婆婆交水电费时，孩子晓得人间有温情、远亲不如近邻。
你偷偷流泪时，他知道人在世上难免会碰到伤心的事，也了解哭泣并不是什么见不得人的事。
孩子就在这些“看不见”的生活细节中，创造着生命的财富，丰富着人生的道路。

在百货中心买了两个红柚，不是因为摊前摆着“红肉柚子”的牌子，而是因为柚皮已被剥光，我们的确看到了柚子肉的颜色。
　　看着电视，大家吃着柚子，甜而多汁，但似乎欠缺点什么。对！剥柚皮的乐趣。买来剥皮的柚子，有点“赌”的性质，赌能否买到皮薄肉厚的甜柚；剥柚皮时，原本大大的一个，最后“实得”的柚肉少得可怜，会有货不对路的受骗感。
　　现在，为了给顾客方便，让柚子销路更好，人们少了剥柚子皮的过程。如果摊贩认为这是最佳的销售方式，长此以往，我们的后代将无法看到柚子的真正模样。为了方便，我们的消费方式越来越“精简”，买榴莲选择去壳的，孩子可能连榴莲是方的、圆的还是有刺的都搞不清楚。洋葱头，不是紫的，也是剥好的，变白了。马蹄也是白的，鸡也是白皮无毛的。现在的孩子看到的东西都已经过“加工”，并非实实在在的原物实貌。
　　有机会选择的话，你会让孩子尝试剥榴莲壳时被刺，还是买只剩黄肉的，拒绝让他认识榴莲的“铁汉”形象？
　　我们的生活越来越简便快速。在让孩子感受繁琐后的简单时，我们是不是也该让他们稍微了解一些生活的原来面貌？ 摘自新加坡《联合早报》

孩子学画,父母总希望他画得栩栩如生,坚持画什么必须像什么,才属上乘。于是很多时候,父母都要求孩子画出大人所要的模式。 　　曾跟孩子分享一个故事:一个画师为人画像,他希望把这个人画得好看一些,因此把鼻子“矫正”,把眼睛画得炯炯有神,把嘴巴画得有笑意,脸上皱纹也少画几笔。那个人看了,非常不满意,认为画师才艺不精,要他重画。这样,又画了好几遍,那个人仍有怨言,说画师把他画丑了。画师愤愤地说:“其实就是因为你长得丑,我希望把你美化一些!” 　　这是丑人无自知之明,或是画师帮了倒忙? 　　孩子指责是画师的错,不应擅作主张,改变那个人的模样。孩子想法最单纯,有话直说,看到什么画什么。反而是大人,总要求完美,或心中有既定之美,即使改变事实也认为理所当然。 　　价值观战场对大人和小孩都是一个可怕的地方,但却是一场可以打赢的仗。大人看见的事物,随着自己的人生历练丰富而有所不同,尤其对灌输给孩子的东西,总想办法圆以满,赋予美。经过矫饰的价值观,往往不再单纯,是大人想要传达的事物的“再生”,给以另一种生命力或价值观。就像画师画的“丑人之美”,已从另一个角度看待生命,却失去孩子眼中的真实。 　　基于保护心理,或是美化心理,孩子如果只看到美丽,远离丑陋,心就纯真了吗?

你知不知道新闻主播5秒钟要念18到20个字？还有主播不能穿格子或线条图案的衣服，衣服的颜色也不能是白色或五颜六色？　　陈扬儿（拉丁马士小六）在12月假期里当了一天的新闻主播，不但学了许多有关新闻播报的知识，还在导师的指导下，坐上“主播台”播报新闻。　　扬儿和90名来自40多所学校的小学生，参加了《大拇指》和“玉珍学苑”，在去年12月7日主办的“小小主播训练营”。　　《大拇指》去年7月改革后推出“大拇指新闻台”，鼓励学生在课堂上报告新闻，锻炼听力和朗读能力。这次训练营就是由学校派出学生向经验丰富的前新闻主播詹玉珍学习。主播不必背稿　　扬儿平日喜欢看电视新闻，一直很佩服主播们在播报时的镇定和自信，她说：“我想过长大后要当主播，所以主播营对我很有帮助。玉珍老师传授了很多播报的技巧和如何应付突发状况的方法。”　　詹老师也解开了扬儿的许多疑团，“比如我以前以为主播都需要把新闻稿背熟，现在才知道，主播面前的摄影机显示了新闻稿。”　　杨凯琳（美以美小六）说：“我以前觉得新闻沉闷，所以很讨厌看电视新闻。但有一次看到张海洁报新闻，觉得她播报时很流利、自信，就被她吸引了。”　　凯琳在大家面前播报新闻，虽然“吃了一点螺丝”（念得不顺畅），但总体来说十分稳重。“前面部分还好，念到后面我想念得快一点，结果就出错了。”　　参与主播营的同学们当天也参观了优频道的演播室。本地两家电视台今年1月合并后，优频道演播室已走入历史，同学们在它被拆除前去参观，意义非凡。
